It may be heading for the end of year list season but there’s no sign of Irish musicians slowing down. This week’s round-up of new music is a bumper one with new bodies of work from Ten Past Seven, Art Of Algebra, Any Joy, M VZN, Rógan and Mark Loughrey.
This week’s playlist cover star is Irish Women In Harmony star Laoise who has shared new single ‘Movies’. It’s great to see Cosha return with new single ‘Berlin Air’ as the Irish R’N’B scene continues to throw up new acts such as UNQ with her debut single ‘Tried’. We’ve been looking forwards to hearing from Ra Gerra, the new collaborative project from Kobina and MuRli and it was worth the wait. We’re big fans of Daire Patel round this way so it’s great to see him return with ‘Summer In the City’.
Established acts such as James Vincent McMorrow and Dermot Kennedy return with remixes of their latest singles while Flynn shares a lovely piano version of ‘I Don’t Want To Love You’ and Ailbhe Reddy delivers an acoustic version of ‘Time Difference’ from her brilliant debut album ‘Personal History. Rosie Carney continues to drip feed her Radiohead covers album with an excellent version of ‘Bulletproof…I Wish I Was’. It’s also great to see Tandem Felix return with ‘The Assassination’ the world is never dull when David Tapley is around.
It’s been a good week for Irish hip hop and R’N’B with new tracks from Celaviedmai, Alicia Raye, Tomike, Jordan Run, Jake Vale, Cheesmore, Uwmami, Nxbody and Aik J & Matt Ó while acts such as Jeff The Human, Wilfried., Abbacaxi and Lewwab blur the lines between hip hop and electronica.
If guitars re more your thing then check out new tracks from The Love Buzz (we’ll have an interview with the lad soon), hotly tipped New Dad and Afterbliss. Declan O’Rourke continues to preview his new album with In Painter’s Light and NI Music Prize nominated artist Sam Wickens returns with ‘Strange24’
