Even though it’s the biggest festival weekend of the season Irish music is still being released left, right, and centre. This week’s big releases come from Hozier, who will hope to follow-up the massive success of ‘Too Sweet’ – he was drinking coffee at 3AM before Sabrina made it cool – with ‘Nobody’s Soldier’ from his brand new ‘Unaired EP’.
NewDad’s Julie Dawson meanwhile, goes solo with a glitchy slice of bedroom electro. ‘Silly Little Song’ sees her collaborating with Belfast’s Space Dimension Controller. We look forwards to hearing more of Julie’s solo releases in the future. And speaking of Belfast, hat tip to Jordan Adetunji who is currently NO.1 on the Billboard TikTok chart in America with ‘Kehlani’.
Cork’s finest boi, Yenkee has shared the second glimpse into his long-awaited debut ‘Night Golf’ with the rather smooth ‘Hand Luggage’. Hot on the heels of last month’s ‘Cherry Pie’, everybody’s favourite Irish R’N’B starlet Shiv is back with ‘Borderline’, while Soulé will be hoping to get back on the radio with the upbeat ‘Holiday’.
Former Hot Sprockets frontman Midnight Wayne is back with his best solo single to date ‘Run So Far’, while Tipperary’s Gemma Hayes hooks up with Paul Noonan of too many projects to mention for ‘Another Love’. It’s great to see The Fae back with ‘So You Said’ after singer Emma’s health issues; while experimental punk artist Meryl Streek previews his second album with the pointed ‘Counting Sheep’. USNA, showcases his new EP ‘Represent’ with ‘What’s Left’, and speaking of EP’s hotshot balladeer Laura Alden has delivered ‘Homebody EP’ featuring ‘September’.
There’s also big dance numbers from Louise DaCosta, Disfreq, Enda Gallery and Reimond, while this week’s standout collaboration come from Kendino, HollowBoysDance and Deleon who connect on ‘Blush’. If you’re in the market for some singer/songwriter vibes we’ve got you covered with JC Stewart (BT46), Moon Looks On (The West Wind Blows), and Henry Earnest (Country). IF you’re looking for something a bit heavier then check out the latest tracks from Thom Southern (Fly Birdy Fly), Ethan Hollan (Valentine) and Thanks Mom (Why Don’t You Like Me Anymore?)
And if that wasn’t enough there’s new music from A Lazarus Soul, Levi Evans, Alex Gough, Damian McGinty, Lucy Gaffney, Venus Grrrls and much more besides. If you’d like to be considered for this playlist fill in the form here
