The best of year lists are starting to appear but there’s no sign of Irish music slowing down just yet. Nealo leads the line this week with the release of his second album ‘November Medicine’ but he’s not the only quality on offer from Irish hip hop.

Fresh from supporting Kojaque in Vicar Street last night Monjola showcases a softer side of his psyche with ‘Woowoo’, while Kneecap and Grian and Tom from Fontaines DC bring their disparate musical worlds together in spectacular fashion on ‘Better Way To Live’. Biig Piig, meanwhile teases us with ‘Watch Me’, the first fruits from their debut album.

There are two other big connects this week; boygenius and Ye Vagabonds’ charity cover of ‘The Parting Glass’, a tribute to Sinead O’Connor which will raise money for the Dublin after school programme The Aisling Project, while Foy Vance celebrates the 10th anniversary of ‘The Joy Of Nothing’ with a new version of ‘Guiding Light’ featuring Ed Sheeran, Elton John and Keith Urban.

In rock the Blur Vs Oasis type battle between NewDad and Sprints continues with the release of ‘Nightmares’ and ‘Shadow of a Doubt’, while NI veterans Ash have covered touringmates The Subways’ 00’s classic single ‘Oh Yeah’.  Also at the covers this week is folk hotshot Niamh Bury who delivers a stunning interpretation of ‘Wexford Lullaby’.

Lucy McWilliams returns with ‘Plastic’ produced by Mini Mansions bassist Zach Dawes who regularly appears on tracks by Lan del Rey and Sharon Van Etten, while Delorentos’ Ro Yourell continues to flex his songwriting skills with his second solo single ‘How My Heart Beats’.

It’s a good week for dance music with new tracks from Disfreq, New Jackson and Pagan, while Yune Pinku continues their phenomenal breakthrough year with a remix of Disclosure’s ‘Higher Than Ever Before’.

And if that’s not enough to be contending with there’s new tracks from the likes of Dermot Kennedy, Cosha, Pablo Para, Varley, Still Blue, Cable Boy, Siights and much more besides.
