It’s a bumper week for Irish music with new albums from Inhaler, New Pagans, St. Francis Hotel, the criminally underrated John Blek, and our favourite blow-in Skull The Pierre. Niall Horan, meanwhile, channels his inner Beach Boy on new single ‘Heaven’ which is sure to top the charts.
Indie popsters Modernlove. deliver their latest EP ‘Only Ever Only You’ ahead of some sold out shows in America. Ezra Williams returns with ‘Deep Routed’ while hotly tipped NI act Lemonade Shoelace delivers another slice of psychedelic pop in the form of ‘Hopscotch In The Sky’. Fellow NI rockers The Wood Burning Savages channel Radiohead and Judas Priest on ‘Hand to Mouth’ and hotly tipped Qbanaa returns with the bass led ‘Creative Perfection Pt.1′
Ireland’s varied hip-hop and R’N’B scene has yielded some banging new tracks. From Dylz’ indie tinged ‘Rage’, to the chilled out vibes of Pat Lagoon’s ‘Jungle’, Thadge’s ‘vhs dreams’ and Adam Garrett’s ‘It Might Be Alright’ to the hard-edged ‘Calm Down’ from BoyW1DR to the upbeat jams from Plantain Papi and NONZUS MAGNUS.
Niall Horan is joined in the pop realm by Flynn who deliver the piano ballad ‘Older’ and Luke Dunleavy who shares hyperpop bop ‘Best/Worst’, while Rofi James delivers indie pop vibes on ‘Over You’
There’s also new music from Rua Ria, Chósta, Nixer, Alex Koncher, Outsider YP, The Butterfly Graveyard, Les SalAmandas and The Spiritual leaders. There’s also collaborations from Ferna and Joshua Burnside, Froman and Madelyn Monaghan, and NI Music Prize winner Ferna and Joshua Burnside, while The Walls and David Keenan add their recent singles ‘Lucky Charm’ and ‘Aldente Pasta’ to streaming services for the first time.
