On the penultimate round up of the best new Irish music of 2022 we bring you music from Biig Piig, The Academic, Sinead White and The Clockworks. Berlin based artist Crook makes his debut on our playlist and as the cover artist.
There’s collabs a plenty as well as Biig Piig hooking up with UK superstar in the making Deb Never for Picking Up, while Northern Ireland’s Jordan Adentunji nabs another UK hotshot Dayaz for Insecure (Love Yourself). Elton John approved singer Moncrieff returns with Perfect, while The Academic build towards heir next album with the release of Homesick.
New to our radar are Galway indie pop trio The Rosecaps and Cork’s The Drive. who have delivered their new EP ‘In Reverse’. Swords singer Diane Anglin delivers her debut solo single Folk Song, while Houseplant’s Sinead White delivers her long awaited ‘Bye Chicken’ EP.
Prolific artist Outsider YP delivers his 20th (by our count) single of 2022, Luv Hurts. other hip hop/R’N’B highlights include Sean (Enjoy), Lowkick (Drumcondra Park),and Make It a triple split Dennie Valentino, BoyW1DR and Ayo Toi.
Side 4 Collective’s Desperate Days featuring Josh Ritter gets the remix treatment courtesy of Peter Vogelaar while Kevin McDonald reworks Pol’s Everybody, elsewhere in dance, Cork Duo Lewwab return with Zero7 and the prolific Swedish Railway Orchestra – who arrive with the type of frequency Dublin Bus can only dream of – deliver Black Magic Devil Woman.
