>Irish pop artist Shobsy has announced that he has signed with So Recordings home of Big Special, Deaf Havana, Emily Burns, and Enter Shakiri. The Dubliner will release his first music on the UK label next Friday.

Bubbly pop single ‘Dance or Cry’ arrives on Fri 25th July and offers a glimpse into his forthcoming debut EP ‘Own The Night’.

“I am delighted to be working with such an influential record label and look forward to being part of an exciting roster at SO Recordings where we have many exciting releases ahead,  ‘Dance or Cry’ was the first song written from my sessions in Berlin. One of those songs that just popped out. I was listening a lot to Europop vibes as I travelled over, which found its way quickly into the writing. I’m fascinated by the late night club culture, the never ending party as if searching for something, for someone.  I have always wanted a slow dance tune with a sense of melancholy, doubt and self pity…now I do!”

The former State Lights frontman has become known for his vocal chops thanks to a series of impressive appearances with the RTE Concert Orchestra performing songs from David Bowie, Phil Lynott at sold out shows at the 3 Arena, National Concert Hall and at the Bord Gais Energy Theatre alongside standout appearance on The Late Late Show performing the gay classic ‘Smalltown Boy’ which won acclaim from none other than the song’s writer Jimmy Somerville.

‘Dance or Cry’ follows recent singles ‘Vanity’, ‘ENTERTAINMENT’ and  Champagne’.

Shobsy plays an intimate acoustic show followed by EP listening party on Mon 21st July at O’Regans in Dublin. Tickets on sale here
