The long summer of relentless festivals is over and it’s nearly time to tuck into mince pies and wear dodgy jumpers. However with all this free time perhaps it’s worth a little contemplation on what has passed by.

Every year the Irish festival award honour the best in Irish field entertainment and will return to honour those from the summer just gone. Voting is now underway and can be made from www.festivalawards.ie.

It’s the fifth edition of the awards which have grown each year, there are 20 categories to vote from, covering every aspect of festivals from best large festival, small festival, best toilets, best service, greenest festival and much more.

Voting closes on January 31st so you have plenty of time to get your votes in but bear in mind that since the Irish Festival awards are ran by the same lovely people who run Castlepalooza, you cannot vote for them as they remove themselves in the interest of fairness.

Awards Director, Cillian Stewart said

The Irish Festival Awards were set up in 2007 to honour the people behind the scenes that make every Irish Summer such an eclectic celebration of music, art and performance.

Every fan can vote for the festival or music act that made their social calendar sparkle. Voting on the shortlist takes place every December & January and for their trouble, fans are in with a chance to win tickets to every winning festival so don’t delay, get online & vote!
