Ireland Music Week (IMW) have announced more details surrounding this year’s conference. Around 60 panels and workshops are set to take place across five days in Lost Lane and Studio 10 each aimed at artists in different stages of their professional development.
“We meet musicians every week to help them develop commercial ambition for their creative ability and we found that it is far better for the creative and mental health of the artist to take this development in stages,” says Angela Dorgan, CEO of First Music Contact. “Our colour-coded conference will help artists engage confidently with information, advice and insights from our local and international experts based on their development stage”
Some of the conference highlights will include:
Tuesday 1st Oct – the conference will kick off in style with a Spotify master class. Come and meet the team and discover the knowledge, tools and best practices to help you raise your profile and find your audience on Spotify. This artist-facing masterclass is strictly pre-registration (here) -Please note that each individual will need to fill out this form to attend.
Wednesday 2nd Oct – a program of talks and meetings to allow people to join and help develop the vision for AIM Ireland, following its launch earlier in 2019 and a keynote speech from Kees van Weijen President of IMPALA.
Thursday 3rd Oct– as well as lots of topical and useful workshops there will be a live sync pitch session along with workshops on DIY video-making, data, neighbouring rights and a start your own music business bootcamp. Followed by the IMW launch and networking event that evening.
Friday 4th Oct – workshops on how artists can get gigs and festivals in Ireland and abroad and an interview the brilliant Jeannette Lee from Rough Trade Records, a discussion on how to protect creative spaces in our cities along with some insights from the team working closely with Fontaines D.C..
Saturday 5th Oct – a panel discussion on Brexit and how music might be affected, a mental health panel following up on last year’s findings, workshops on how to approach media here, in the UK and the US, streaming and A&R and much more.
Ireland Music Week has also announced its third and final round of international delegates with representatives from the likes of BBC Introducing, Billboard, Bandcamp, Deezer, Festival Republic joining the roster.
