Following on from their showcase as part of The Great Escape (TGE) Online in 2021, featuring the likes of Smoothboi Ezra and Soda Blonde, Ireland has been chosen as the lead country partner for TGE22. Music From Ireland will organise and host another special showcase for the 2022 installment which takes place in Brighton from the 11th to the 14th of May and will feature some of the best and most-exciting up-and-coming Irish-based talents.
On being TGE’s Lead Country Partner, Angela Dorgan from Music From Ireland, said, “Music From Ireland are delighted to be the spotlight Country at the Great Escape 2022 which will mark our return to live international opportunities for Irish artists in the UK and beyond. We are especially pleased that TGE is acknowledging the wonderful talent we have in Ireland and is highlighting the unique relationship between our two industries.”
“Decades of UK labels, agents, promoters and others have seen success with Irish artists and we look forward to this continuing for many decades to come. We can’t wait to showcase some of our strongest emerging talent to the UK Music Industry In May,” Dorgan added.
Irish artists announced to play at the festival in May so far include five Plec Picks in Efé, Kynsy, Lucy McWilliams, Malaki and Sprints, with The Clockworks, Sinéad O’Brien, Conchúr White, Dea Matrona and Enola Gay also on the bill.
Also announced recently was the precursor to the main event The Road To The Great Escape, which takes place in Dublin on the 9th and 10th of May.
