Scottish Quartet Kassidy visit Irish shores this weekend with The Boy Who Trapped the Sun for a Whelans gig, Their first ever Irish show. Thanks to our friends in MCD we got to ask Kassidy a few questions. Here’s it is…

How did the band form?

By chance, Hamish met barrie in a pub and asked him if he wanted to join his band based on they way he was dressed. Then Chris and myself were asked a couple of weeks later

Having an all guitar four-piece is unusual band structure, how does your songwriting process work?

usually all sit in someones room or in a circle with the guitars out and show each other parts we have come up with

If you could collaborate with one act in the world who would it be?

Seasick Steve

You are in the middle of a hectic gig schedule, how are you finding life on the road?

Its great, good fun just travelling all the time and nice to get out the house.

You have numerous festival dates lined up for this summer, which festival are you looking forward to playing the most?

T in the Park as for us all it was the festival closest to home which we saw loads of bands play in the past and it was a goal we all had to play there.

You are part of an influx of great Scottish bands in recent times, such as Frightened Rabbits and Glasvegas. What is it about Scotland that is creating great music at the moment?

Not sure, i have no idea

You are currently promoting your new single ‘Stray Cat’, what plans do you have to record your debut album?

we have recorded it and its mixed, mastered ready to come out later in the year

Like most bands today you have a Facebook and MySpace page, do you feel that social networking has opened doors for bands today to get their music out there and connect with their fansbase?

I think that as we are very much in an age of technology its the best way to keep contact with fans and to discover new music i feel that its certainly something bands need

What is the next step for Kassidy?
