Dublin trio The Ambience Affair have kept themselves busy of late. Having just released their debut album, Burials, earlier this month a nation-wide tour soon followed. With that tour now winding down to an end GoldenPlec got a chance to have a quick word with the band’s drummer, Marc Gallagher, to find out where the bands going in the future.

You just released your debut album, Burials. How do you feel the launch went and how are your fans taking to it?

Good as far as we’re considered. The launch went amazing and we couldn’t have asked for more. We are getting some great feedback from the fans and they all seem to love it. Every time we’re played now it feels like a new launch.

Tell me who has been your favourite band to play with?

We’ve played with lots of really great bands. One of the really good ones was a band from the UK called Field Music, it as great to play with them. But there has been lots of great bands. Jape was amazing to play with, and so were Villagers. Hopefully we can play with them again in the future.

Your tour is coming to an end with the homecoming in Dublin’s Workmans Club this Friday, have you anything big planned for that gig?

Well we’re gonna be in Galway first on the Thursday night, in Kellys Bar, but after that we’re heading back to Dublin. It’s going to be a great gig, I really like playing The Workmans Club. We haven’t got anything special planned but we know that our hometown fans will be looking forward to this one, so we’re gonna give it our absolute best on the night. Then after that we can take a breather.

What have you got planned for the rest of the year, and further afield?

We aren’t going to sit back and take it easy after the tour has finished. It will be different to the first half of the year as we spent six months organizing and preparing for this two-week tour, but it’s not going to boring. We’ll be looking to get some more high profile gigs, play a few more support slots and try get our name out. We have a small festival coming up soon and we’ll be looking forward to that, but we are definitely going to kick it up a gear.

The Fallen music video looks great. Have you any plans to make some more videos in the near future?

We have our first meeting this Monday after the tour and I’m sure it’ll be something that will come up. We all are very closely linked with videos so I’d say that everyone would want to do more. I don’t know for what song or when we’ll get around to doing so but it’s something for us to look forward to in the future.

Tell me about your relationship with Bluestack Records. You seem to be their flagship band.

It’s great to be honest. They watch our back and don’t interfere too much with the band, letting us get on with making and playing music. They give us support without trying to change us like other managers would. All we ever have to worry about is playing well as they sort everything else out for us. And there’s a few other really good bands signed with them.

And finally, if you could play alongside any current band or musician, who would it be?

That’s a very difficult one. I’m sure if the rest of the band was here you’d be getting three answers. For me it would be someone like Arcade Fire. There’s so many bands that come to mind but I’d have to go for a big name band, and I’m sure the rest of the band would pull together and go for someone big as well.
