What a night, Team Goldenplec had a lot of fun at this years Meteor Choice Music Prize event and it was a completely different experience to last year when Aidan was one of the judges.
We missed out on Tieranniesaur’s performance but caught the rest, it was difficult to judge in total the reaction because of the fully seated nature of the event but Cashier No9 seemed to go down well. Big cheers for Lisa Hannigan and Bell X1 detailed their following and Jape probably provided our second favourite performance of the night.
However for us it was And So I Watch You From Afar who suited and booted for the event and then tore the Olympia a new one for two raucous tracks, sending the females into raptures as the drummer suddenly “lost” his shirt. The award however wasn’t for best performance on the night and in our eyes we had a top three pinned down as Lisa Hannigan, Jape and Cashier No9. Admittedly we put our financials on Lisa but were delighted to see Richie Egan create history at Choice as the only act to win the award twice. Two in the bag for Jape before he leaves us all for Sweden
A top night, Paul McCloone kept proceedings in order very well even with the mishap of Royseven to accept their award, he managed to flow past it effortlessly so credit to the big man. We sent down our most handsome photographer to snap the event from the front. Here’s how it all looked up close.
