Ahead of their debut headline show in Whelan’s later this month, hotly tipped etherial shoegaze quintet Affection to Rent have shared their second single, ‘Cathedral’, via AWAL. ‘Cathedral’ follows their debut single ‘If We Fail’, which was crowned 2FM’s Track of the Week with Dan Hegarty upon its release.
The BIMM band have since opened for Irish postpunk breakouts Gurriers, and Snooper as well as appearances at All Together Now, The Great Escape and Ireland Music Week.
“The song was sparked by hearing a choir sing from a cathedral in Dublin as I passed in the empty early hours one winter night. We wanted to capture a feeling of being lost in something much larger than yourself, with lyrics to describe the human capacity for vast emotions as the echoing scale of a cathedral interior. It holds all I felt at the time: a curiosity about fate, fear, and passion.”
Following a raft of festivals and support slots, Affection to Rent will play their debut headline show on Saturday, 15th November 2025 with special guests Stratford Rise. Tickets €20.25
