Hoarsebox to preview debut album in Whelans this November

HoarseBox have been couped up for 12 long months working on a debut album in the fine state of Mississippi. This is all well and good but how is the album coming along?

Well Horsebox will be making a return to Ireland for a preview of the album showcase. They will be hitting Whelans on November 11th and give the home fans a advance preview of this debut album that is due out early next year.

Family, friends and fans of Hoarsebox, we salute you. As you may or may not know, the band has been based in Mississippi for almost a year now working on our debut album. We all thought it would be done over the course of a weekend but, 12 months on, we’re still here saying things like ‘y’all’, drinking bourbon and considering the mullet as the band’s next ‘do’. Fortunately we have fought the temptation to refer to everything good in the world as ‘awesome’.

So much has changed in the last year and that has had a considerable influence on our music and our hairdos. It is impossible to be in a place like the Deep South of the United States without being inspired by the culture and music (I recently slept in Muddy Waters’ bed). As such we see this upcoming gig in Whelan’s as a very fresh and exciting turning point for the band and wanted to make our supporters aware of this.

Do not be alarmed. This isn’t like Dylan going electric. I doubt you’ll want to throw eggs at us (I hope). The core aim of our music is still to get people moving their arses/asses/butts/culos with as much vocal acrobatics and lush harmonies as is humanly possible. But we’re embracing lots of new sounds, instruments and musical approaches that will serve to make the music even bigger and brighter.

So do join us on the 11th of November in Whelan’s for a sweaty night of dancing and bopping. Be kind to children and animals.
