Longitude is literally only just around the corner and the official sponsor Heineken is plotting another installment of Heineken Sound Atlas to bring Tokyo to Longitude.

The festival revellers will get to enjoy a multitude of music and culteral experiences, this time focusing around Tokyo. This will see the likes of Japanese Izakaya, Karaoke, Vending Machines and a Ping-Pong tournament among the plans for fun in the park.

No-Dancing – Fueiho
Fueiho, the No-Dancing Law, was introduced to Tokyo in 1948. The law prohibited dancing in small venues and clubs after midnight. As a result, it inspired an underground movement as thousands of people throughout the city came together, determined to dance. The Fueiho No-Dancing Law was overturned in June 2015 after 67 years – marking the end of an era in Tokyo’s unconventional party scene.

This forms the basis on which Heineken’s 2015 festival experience is built.

The Sound Atlas structure has been custom-built for the Longitude Festival and, similar to Tokyo’s underground spaces, includes a Japanese-style Izakaya, a noodle bar, a ping pong tournament and, of course, karaoke, to ensure festival-goers get a full, authentic Tokyo experience over the three day event.

Heineken’s music team has collaborated with Tokyo’s most influential DJ’s, promoters and creators. Key players in Tokyo’s vibrant music scene such as Irishman, Shortie and producers, HVNS, Sauce 81 and Dazzle Drums collaborated with Heineken’s Irish music team to explore how spaces like Disk Union, Sound Museum Vision, UC Lounge and Bridge Bar can inspire the creation of a new festival experience for 2015.
