Well this week I might be slightly biased due to being heavily involved in my role as a judge for the Choice Music Prize this year. It’s an honour that the amazing guys behind the awards deemed us of enough note to be considered for the role and we thank them for the opportunity.
So if you want to see at least 9 of the 10 shortlisted amazing Irish bands in action in Vicar Street you need to head your browser towards Choice Music Prize Tickets if it isn’t already sold out (considering the lineup it could well be) and alongside the fact you get to see the likes of Cathy Davey, Villagers, Fight Like Apes, Two Door Cinema Club, Cast of Cheers, Adebisi Shank, James Vincent McMorrow, Halves and O Emperor will all be performing on the night. Tickets are €22 until sold out at which point only pixie dust will buy you one.
In other notable gigs, we have Tuesday night giving us The Saturdays in The Waterfront, The Whigs in The Academy 2 then Wednesday has The Saturdays down in The Olympia and Jamie Lawson in Whelans.
Thursday has The Choice Music Prize but also Ryan Sheridan in McHughs and The Levellers in The Academy, then Friday gives you the pleasure of Phantom 105.2s First Friday featuring Surfer Blood in The Academy and The Decemberists in Vicar Street and The Naked and Famous in Belfast.
Saturday has Ray Lamontagne in The Olympia, The Naked and Famous are in The Button Factory whilst The Script play Gleneagles INEC, Sunday closes off the weekend with Halves in Cyprus Avenue and Monday has The Script in The Odyssey.
