With Oxegen on a temporary hiatus this summer, the slot has been filled by three major concerts in Phoenix Park this weekend. The Stone Roses, playing on Thursday 5th July, are this week’s gig of the week. Reports from their tour have been mostly positive, even if there has been clashes of egos along the way. Local lads The Minutes are lending support for one of their biggest gigs yet. Some extra tickets went on sale last week and are €63.65. Other gigs at Phoenix Park this weekend consist of Swedish House Mafia, Snoop Dogg, Calvin Harris and Tinie Tempah on Saturday, tickets €59.50. The Temper Trap and Florence and the Machine will be joining forces with Snow Patrol on Sunday to wrap up the weekend. Limited tickets available and they are €59.50. It might be no harm to bring the wellies.
Kate Nash is in Whelans tonight, tickets are €17.35. She has gone a different direction with her latest release. Under-estimate the Girl was written and recorded in less than 24 hours, and is her take on punk. It should make for an interesting evening.
Hot 8 Brass Band who impressed Team GP at Sea Sessions are in Dolans Warehouse on Thursday 5th July, tickets €16.35.
If you are in Cork and pop is your thing, head down to Live At The Marquee. Cheeky chappy Olly Murs is playing on Thursday 5th July, tickets €39.05 and Steps take over on Friday 6th July, tickets €44.05.
