American rock singer songwriter John Mellencamp is in town tomorrow for a show in the Grand Canal Theatre and from the minute it was announced there was never a doubt that I was going to be in attendance.
Tracks like ‘Hurts So Good’ and ‘Jack and Diane’ are seared into my memory from youth and catch them and the rest of his amazing back catalogue will be a pleasure I have no doubt. If you can get down I would highly reccomend it. There will be a documentary from 7:15 – 8:15 about the tour of minor league baseball stadiums by Bob Dylan, John Mellencamp and Willie Nelson and then the live show will begin at 8.40 when the man himself appears.
Other gigs this week include rock legends Bon Jovi in the RDS Arena on the 29th and 30th June. Bressie is in Whelans for a headline show on Wednesday, Glee is in The O2 on Saturday and Sunday, Bell X1 are playing down in Cork at Live at the Marquee and finally Greg Allman is playing Vicar Street on Monday.
