It is officially festival season now with Oxegen less than a month away and events happening throughout the country, but here at Goldenplec we pride ourselves on our pure ignorance to anything going on outside Dublin*. We apologise but that’s just the way the cookie crumbles when you’re staffed by Dublin natives.

*Please note I am not bitter about the following: Not being able to go to any of the live at the Marque events this week, Not going to Slane on Saturday or Not being able to make it to Deadmau5 in the Trinity Rooms, Limerick. Bet they’ll all be crap anyway. Mmm sour grapes.

Anyway, gig of the week is Dirty Epics in The Button Factory this coming Friday. The band formed in 2007 and have most recently been seen on RTE’s Raw Sessions where they progressed to the second round with their song “All time favorite”. They released their debut album “Straight In, No Kissing” last year and have been described as “A mix of the New York Dolls, Joy Division and the Pixies with Bob Dylan”. Tickets for the night are €12.00
