A quick look over the next week gives us at least 3 or 4 options for gig of the week. Tis a bit of a hard one but we have gone with the wonderful Alphastates in Whelans on Wednesday night.

For a group who seem to have been around the Dublin music scene forever, its hard to believe Alphastates have only released one album. Well this is about to change with their follow-up to ‘Made of Sand’ to be released on April 17th. The album, titled ‘Human Nature’ will feature their latest single ‘Champagne Glass’ and to catch a preview of the rest of the album, Alphastates will be playing Whelans next Wednesday 25th.

One of my favorite Irish acts even going back to their Babelfish days, they give a glimpse of a modern sound that was missing in Irish music for so long. In a time where the likes of Mundy and Paddy Casey where climbing the charts, it was the likes of Babelfish and Autamata who were the real ground breaking artists in Irish music.

The group have announced more dates around the country and they are listed below

Wed 25th March Whelans, Dublin – Champagne Glass single launch!!!
Friday 10th April Greystones Theatre, Greystones
Wed 15th April – Whelans, Dublin – Human Nature album launch!!!
