Although Academy 2 isn’t a great venue, it is playing host to this week’s Gig of the Week – Alabama Shakes on Saturday 5th. This gig along with the rest of their European dates is sold out. There has been a lot of hype around the Alabama four piece and judging by their recent appearance on Jools Holland this is set to be one hell of a gig.
In other news, if you can’t tell this week sees the start of summer and the folks down at Vantastival are kicking of festival season this weekend 4th – 6th May. They have an eclectic line up including – God Is An Astronaut, Cathy Davey, Le Galaxie and Ham Sandwich. Tickets are €89.50 Fingers crossed the weather improves.
English Indie rockers Bombay Bicycle Club make a welcome return to The Olympia tonight, Monday 30th. SBTRKT will finish the weekend off in The Academy on Sunday 6th.
