January can be a slightly gloomy and very quiet time. With most people having sworn resolutions full of good intentions, we all know that as soon as things are back in full swing in work, by Thursday you’ll be looking forward to the weekend. First Fortnight, Ireland’s Mental Health Arts Festival, have your weekend plans sorted. Le Galaxie will be on hand to dust off the cobwebs on Saturday night in The Button Factory. It’s an eclectic line up with support coming from We Cut Corners, Kopek & Vann. The tickets are a steal at €12 and still available.
Gary Barlow is in The Olympia Theatre tonight and unsurprsingly that one is a sell out. Tuesday sees Christy Moore down in Vicar Street with Declan Sinnott in aid of the Peter McVerry Trust. Tickets are €39.50 and still available.
The incredibly popular Ed Sheeran kicks off his three night stand in The O2 on Friday night. There isn’t a spare ticket going for any of those shows. Roisin O and The Man Whom are just a taster of acts playing The Therapy Sessions on Friday night in The Workmans Club, also part of First Fortnight. Tickets are a fiver and still available.
Quincy’s finest The Dropkick Murphys will be rocking Vicar Street on Saturday and Sunday night, with support from Frank Turner. Tickets are €26.90 and are only available for Sunday.
