It’s always disappointing to hear a very backwards story that you think would be a headline for years ago, and certainly not for a forward thinking company like Google, but it appears that Friends of the site, Fight Like Apes attempted to run an advertising campaign on Google adwords and have had the campaign rejected by Google.

No reason for the rejection was given, they had hoped to run the campaign to promote the brand spanking new album ‘The Body of Christ and the Legs of Tina Turner‘ but Administrators at Google obviously feels the ad violates something in their terms and conditions but feel unable to divulge exactly what that reason is.

The album launches tomorrow (Friday) the 27th August 2010. Fight Like Apes play to 150 people tonight in Tower Records before bopping on down to the Roisín Dubh for another album launch party in the other capital. You can listen to the Tower Records performance tonight on 2FM at approximately 11.30pm

As always, Jamie  (Pockets) provides us with some comedy gold with the following quote on the censorship by Google.

” First Russell Brand releases a song that requires us to re-record the entire ending of one of ours, then his bird Katy Perry gets involved by releasing her album on the same day. Now Google gets involved? Christ on a bike, the Lord has a real motley crue of characters doing his work at the minute.”

Stay tuned for a review of the new album which hopefully will be up online before the end of the day.
