fidil_and_solo_cissokhoA great project combining Irish trad and West African rhythms, Fidil & Solo,  are set to play six dates around Ireland in early October.

Young fiddlers Aidan O’Donnell and Ciaran Ó Maonaigh from FIDIL will be joined again by seventh generation griot Solo Cissokho and his nephew Seckou Keita in this entertaining musical dialogue between Donegal and Senegal.

With their adventurous approach to the fiddle, coupled with the depth of lore and tunes of the Donegal tradition, Fidil are worthy talismen for a new generation of Irish traditional musicians. Solo Cissokho is a master of the kora, the regal 22 stringed harp with its beautiful cascades of rippling notes and addictive West African grooves, while his nephew Seckou brings an irresistible rhythmic accent with Senegalese percussion of djembe and calabash.
