Fia Moon marks her second release of 2021 with her vibrant new single ‘Simple’ that examines some of the more complicated aspects of life and relationships. An elegy of perspective, the track explores how even in the most complicated of situations, a positive mindset can make all the difference.

Written and recorded between LA, Dublin and Cork with the help of Cork’s Bill Maybury (Cian Ducrot, Lenii, Robert Grace) and LA based artist, producer and songwriter Austin Ward (Arlissa, G-Easy, Umi), production on the track was conducted entirely remotely over video calls. “It was written in my second ever Zoom session and I didn’t know what to expect or how to connect with people through zoom because the energy isn’t the same so to see it become one of my favourite song is unbelieve,” Moon recalls of the recording process.

‘Simple’ is uptempo and summery, with the track’s soothing guitar melody, velvety percussion, and Fia’s rich vocal tones creating a sense of passion and determination at the heart of the song.

I really wanted to get across the feelings of how to navigate and not knowing where you stand in the early days of a relationship. The complicated emotions that arise, when one person may be more invested than the other and challenge my thinking to be more black and white. I wanted to turn this frustration into something positive and uplifting. It is also a reminder to not take things too seriously” Fia says of ‘Simple’.

I’ve always been fascinated by the fact that two people can be in the same situation but experience it through a completely different lens because of their mindset. This song really is an exploration of that and wishing I was able to switch to a less complicated frame of mind, wishing things would be more simple,” Fia adds of the track’s genesis.

Moon’s introduction to the Irish music scene came with the release of her debut single ‘The Fall’ in 2018. Four singles followed that year with ‘Settle Down’, ‘Take’, ‘Water Runs Through’ and ‘Lucid Dreams’ before she set the summer alight with the her bombastic summer single ‘better days’, which was followed by the mysterious ‘XX’, which was named across publications as one of last years singles of the year.

‘Simple’ is set to be one of many new tracks from Fia in the coming months, and it’s an important step in a new direction for the Dublin artist. “I’m so excited for people to hear it” Moon smiles, “this track is so special to me because it really showcases a slightly new direction with my music, is upbeat and a bit more positive. I put so much work into it from re-doing the vocals, being involved in the mixes and I’m really proud of it”.

“The messaging of the song is really true to who I am and it’s really personal so it’s nice to be able to put that out into the universe”
