Festival Details

PORT to PORT festival is building cultural bridges at a time when so many seem to be falling down. Based on the longstanding relationship between Ireland and Portugal, this new Lisbon-based festival is combining the best new music and art from both countries in a two-day spectacular.

The festival is set to take place on Saturday 21st and Sunday 22nd of March in the up-and-coming Beato Neighbourhood of Lisbon. It will present alternative music, visual art, food, drink and workshops from Ireland, Portugal, and beyond.

PORT to PORT have announced the first acts of the festival, with many more to be added soon. Expect an array of genres from Folk to Experimental Electronic, ear tingling tunes to body grooving beats, the weird and wonderful, and everything in between.

The first flurry of artists sets the international tone for the weekender, with Citrus Fresh (PX music), Hazey Haze (PX music), Soft Focus (Sunshine Cult Records), and Mark Waldron-Hyden (Sunshine Cult Records) making their way from Ireland to join the Lisbon based artists Foggy (originally from Italy), MagMell, Will Grant (originally from the UK), and Atelier Francesco (originally from Italy). And well-known visual artist KONE (@kone.one), who is originally from Cork, Ireland, but has been working across Europe for many years — most recently in the Netherlands.

The festival is organised by the Lisbon-based, Cork-born, platform Garden Collective, who have been organising music, art, and poetry events in both cities for the past two years. They are working in partnership with a Portuguese Cultural Association, as well as local businesses, to deliver what is sure to be an incredible weekend.

One of the Festival Organisers, Cork man Eddie Ivers, says: “With the first edition of Port to Port, our aim is to strengthen the cultural ties between Portugal and Ireland. Ports have played an integral part of civilisations throughout the ages as the gateway through which people, goods, ideas, craic and culture move. No less relevant today, Port to Port Festival brings together artists, musicians and generally good folk from Portugal and Ireland — two seafaring nations that have been closely linked for centuries.

It comes as the culmination of running poetry, art, and music events in both countries for the past 2 years. Lisbon is currently a buzzing hub of creativity, and we’re really excited to be presenting a lineup of up-and-coming Irish artists along with a host of other creatives from around the world.”
