South Wind Blows announced today that Other Voices will take place in Dingle this winter for the 18th year. Dingle Gin are announced as the partner for the Music Trail. Registration for the Dingle Gin Music Trail is priced €30 including booking fee and is now open on Eventbrite. Ireland’s Edge, the distinct ideas stream within Other Voices will take place November 29th and 30th  and registration is now open via Eventbrite.  The Music Trail West, Banter and After Dark are also confirmed with more information to follow over the coming weeks.

Rounding off another year of adventures in Belfast, Berlin and Cardigan, Other Voices returns to its roots in Dingle, Co. Kerry on November 29th, 2019 for the annual weekend in the heart of winter, often referred to as a musical pilgrimage.

From Friday 29th of November, Other Voices will welcome Irish and international artists to perform in St. James’ Church and the IMRO Other Room, where they will be filmed for inclusion in  the 18th series of the television show, due to air on RTÉ2 in 2020.

Ireland’s Edge returns with the theme ‘Endings + Edges, Bonds + Borderlands’. The focus will be on Brexit, Ireland’s place in Europe, the climate emergency, mass migration, immigration, and the role and impact of the digital revolution. As ever, the Ireland’s Edge talks and performances will happen in the company of a curious attendance of thinkers, policy makers, innovators, commentators and artists.  Join us at the Edge to connect, disrupt and play. Tickets for Ireland’s Edge are priced €35 for two days and €20 for one day and available now from https://www.eventbrite.ie/e/irelands-edge-endings-edges-bonds-borderlands-tickets-73411946107. Ireland’s Edge – Endings + Edges, Bonds + Borderlands is presented in partnership with Intel Ireland.

Venues, pubs, cafes and shops around the town will open their doors and welcome attendees to the Dingle Gin Music Trail showcasing over 70 artists across three days. Late-night favourite After Dark (a co-production with the Hen’s Teeth) will return to The Hillgrove with very special guests to be announced. The Music Trail West will take festival goers beyond the streets of Dingle to enjoy off the beaten track performances around various locations around the Dingle Peninsula on the Wild Atlantic Way. A longstanding OV favourite, Jim Carroll’s Banter will return to Foxy John’s for two days of thought-provoking discussions and a series of intimate performances.

Other Voices is made possible with the support and partnership of the Department of Culture, Heritage and the Gaeltacht, RTÉ, Dingle Distillery, Kerry County Council, Fáilte Ireland and IMRO.

7,000 attendees are expected to journey to Dingle for Other Voices this year, with Kerry County Council’s CE Moira Murrell commenting: “Kerry County Council has been an enthusiastic supporter of Other Voices since its inception in 2001 and is delighted to have seen it expand internationally in size and stature, while keeping Dingle as its home. The impact of Other Voices in promoting the culture and scenic beauty of the Dingle Peninsula to a worldwide audience, links seamlessly with Kerry County Council’s promotion of Kerry as the ideal place to visit, live and work.”

This year’s Other Voices Dingle is delighted to welcome local heroes Dingle Gin as the new partner on the Dingle Gin Music Trail, a dynamic series of gigs at venues across the town throughout the weekend. Commenting on the partnership, Elliot Hughes of Dingle Gin said: “We are delighted to be sponsoring the Other Voices Music Trail this year.  As two independent businesses with both our hearts firmly set in Dingle, we see that as a fantastic collaboration of like-minded people. We are really proud of our Dingle roots and the unique and brilliant nature of Other Voices is one of the many reasons for that. I personally can’t wait to be drinking a Dingle Gin watching some fantastic performers throughout the town”.  Other Voices founder Philip King added “We’re absolutely thrilled to be working with Dingle Gin on the Dingle Gin Music Trail this year. To be able to partner with an independent, family owned brand like Dingle Gin who celebrate Dingle and West Kerry, as we do, is a wonderful thing.”

The Dingle Gin Music Trail will feature live performances in Nelliefred’s, John Benny’s, Kennedy’s, Paul Geaney’s, McCarthy’s, The Marina, Barr na Sráide, O’Sullivan’s Courthouse, Nelligan’s, Curran’s, Kennedy’s, Murphy’s and An Chonair. The exciting line-up of Irish and international artists taking part in the Dingle Gin Music Trail will be announced shortly.

Keith Johnson, Director of Marketing & Membership IMRO commented on their annual support of the Other Room stating:  “Other Voices has a long tradition of presenting the very best in musical talent from these shores and further afield and IMRO is delighted to once again play a part in bringing this iconic show to our screens. The IMRO Other Room opens a door each year to some of the very finest emerging songwriters and performers and we look forward to shining a light on this wonderful talent”
