In our third of our series of Windmill Lane Sessions, in partnership with Independent.ie, Stephen McMahon performs his rendition of Yours by previous X-Factor contestant, now rising popstar, Ella Henderson. Henderson is known for her incredible vocal strength and depth so it's a big song to take on, but there's no doubt that McMahon does it justice.

McMahon, a singer-songwriter from Cork whose music can be placed in the category of jazz, soul, soft rock, among others, was involved in a car crash in 2007, an event that has forever changed his life and inspired his album 'Half Blind'. The title refers to the fact that he has lost the sight in his left eye, but is also a metaphor for the fact that he now believes he sees more clearly, and he sees more than he did before the accident.

McMahon’s cover of Yours, originally released in October of last year, is incredibly genuine and moving, and brings a whole new dimension to the song.

To see more from McMahon, including a video interview with Barry Egan and a performance of his own song Nicola, clock on the picture below.
