Almost Ghosts are an indie electro trio from Dublin who mix the melodic pop vibes of Two Door Cinema Club with the dour lyrical observations of The National with 5am after-party fear. A combination that sees the group exploring a wide range of musical territories on their new double A-Side single For This/Quiet Ground.
How did Almost Ghosts come into being?

"The band has been through a few changes with various members joining and leaving, name changes and shifts in musical direction; but it's most recent form began just over a year ago when our drummer needed to leave the band to focus on his business. We re-evaluated our sound after he left. We tried to use electronic drums with our existing songs, but the music lost its energy. We abandoned all of our old songs and wrote a new set with a more electronic approach. This is how the current form of Almost Ghosts came about."

How would you describe your music?

"We'd describe it as Ambient Electronic Pop. We have been compared to a few bands one person described us as "As if Two Door Cinema Club and Editors had a love child." We're a big fan of atmospheric sounds but also go weak at the knees for a good strong beat and guitar hooks. We’d like to think our new double A-side release showcases the scope of our musical output, from a fast paced guitar driven sound of For This to the chilled out electronic ambient sound on Quiet Ground.

What's next for Almost Ghosts?

"We hope to get back in the studio before the end of the year to record an EP. We had to put a cap on writing for the next while so we could polish off the live set. We will be playing gigs a lot more consistently this year. We tend to have big live gaps as we enjoy writing new songs so much that we lose track of playing live."
