One of the UK's most boutique festivals, Green Man takes place this weekend in the picturesque surroundings of the Brecon Beacons in Wales. Headliners come in the form of Fleet Foxes, The War On Drugs and the excellently named King Gizzard And The Wizard Lizard, who headline a UK festival for the first time.

There'll be plenty of comedy, film, literature, art installations and craft beers and cider on show too but the music is what people come for. So, with that in mind, we've compiled a list of our 10 most recommended artists across the weekend. Trust us, narrowing it down to 10 was extremely difficult.

(This post will be updated when official stage times are released.)

HMLTD

When?

Friday

Where?

Walled Garden

What to expect?

Probably the most ferocious live act in the UK at the moment, HMLTD have built a massive reputation on the back of their genre-bending, dark and broody tunes. EP 'Hate Music Last Time Delete' is the pique of their careers so far but it's live where HMLTD really shine. Expect lots of gyrating, howling and probably some partial nudity.

Snail Mail

When?

Friday

Where?

Walled Garden

What to expect?

Lindsey Jordan, aka Snail Mail, was one of the big winners from SXSW in Texas earlier this year, with her endearing, catchy tunes and no-fucks-given attitude being the talk of the town. A stellar sold-out show in London's OSLO venue in May cemented her position as one of the most exciting acts to make the trip across the Atlantic from the US in years. Debut album 'Lush' is hotly tipped for all end-of-year lists.

Séamus Fogarty

When?

Saturday

Where?

Mountain Stage

What to expect?

Joining a number of Irish artists putting a new, modern-day spin on folk music, Séamus Fogarty combines electronic sounds with woodwind instruments, overlayed with recorded dialogue to create a truly unique sound. His most recent album 'The Curious Hand' was given five stars by The Guardian at the end of last year. Not to be missed.

Teleman

When?

Saturday

Where?

Far Out

What to expect?

Pulsating rhythms and shimmering synths dominate Teleman's signature sound. With two albums under their belts, Teleman have solidified their position in the hearts of indie fans up and down the UK and will look to bring that all together in Crickhowell on Saturday.

Baxter Dury

When?

Saturday

Where?

Mountain Stage

What to expect?

Son of the legendary Ian Dury (him of Hit Me With Your Rhythm Stick fame) Baxter Dury is clearly well-versed in showmanship. His music and live shows are both approached with a swagger that inevitably draws you in. Equal parts snarling, bitter, wry and inspired, this is a man at the height of his game.

Boy Azooga

When?

Saturday

Where?

Far Out

What to expect?

The brainchild of multi-instrumentalist Davey Newington, Boy Azooga have come from nowhere to everywhere in what seems like no time at all. First catching our eye with the William Onyeabor-inspired earworm that was Face Behind Her Cigarette, the release of second single Loner Boogie cemented their position as one of the most interesting newcomers on the scene, as it displayed an entirely different, yet equally memorable sound.

Goat Girl

When?

Saturday

Where?

Walled Garden

What to expect?

Billed by Pitchfork as a 'less romantic' version of The Libertines, Goat Girl are purveyors of snarling yet fun punk that is fiercely political. Their live show is every bit as fierce, usually clouded in dry ice allowing the music to take centre stage.

Rolling Blackouts Coastal Fever

When?

Sunday

Where?

Far Out

What to expect?

Springsteen-esque straight-up rock'n'roll out of Australia, the country providing the vast majority of today's best bands, Rolling Blackouts have garnered a lot of attention in recent months with several sold out shows across the UK and some much-hyped shows at Brighton's Great Escape festival. Indie rock at its most energetic.

Stella Donnelly

When?

Sunday

Where?

Walled Garden

What to expect?

As much a stand-up comedian as a musician, Stella Donnelly's self-deprecating humour between songs immediately endears her to everyone in the room but it's her music that keeps the fans coming back. The Aussie's debut track Boys Will Be Boys, which challenged the patriarchy as well as victim blaming, was the kind of debut that couldn't be ignored. The Green Man performance marks the first show of a four-month worldwide tour so we expect her to be on top form.

Afla Sackey & Afrik Bawantu

When?

Sunday

Where?

Chai Wallahs

What to expect?

A ten-piece funk orchestra formed in Ghana in 2007 by Afla Sackey, they blend vibrant African rhythms with fast, animated horn sections and heavy bass lines to bring a whole new definition to the Afro-funk genre.
