Jedward Put Your Green Cape OnIt’s May, it’s nearly time for Ireland to step up to the Euro 2012 finals in Poland and do the country proud. It wouldn’t be a massive football tournament if we didn’t have a song leading us into battle. Put Em’ Under Pressure sets an almost impossibly high standard to meet but that doesn’t mean it’s not worth having a go.

Two big name songs have turned up and ironically, they came out on the same day. We have Jedward (with support from Colm Hayes and 2FM) and Damien Dempsey and Danny O’Reilly, Bressie and The Dubliners (with support from Today FM). It’s a battle to win your hearts and minds as to the song everyone will be singing when they hit the stadiums, bars, couches around Ireland and Poland supporting the boys in green.

In the green corner it’s Jedward with their reworking of their Eurovision hit ‘Lipstick’, as a newly lyric’d Put The Green Cape On. It’s up against the orange corner of Damien Dempsey and co with Rocky Road To Poland. All proceeds from the Jedward track will go to the ISPCC (which will probably largely fund the security those two need these days, aswell as helping stop violence to young children) and Team Dempsey, who have all proceeds going to John Giles Foundation and the Today FM Shave of Dye campaign for Irish Cancer Society.

So two very very worthy causes, two ultimately VERY different songs. Both tracks are available from iTunes and Rocky Road is also on sale on 3Music. Which song are you supporting. Are you in Team Jedward or Team Dempsey? Either way there is nothing surer than the fact that we are all on team COYBIG.

COME ON YOU BOYS IN GREEN!!
