Elkae has announced a show upstairs in Whelan’s for February 2020. We brought you the premiere of Elkae aka Laura Kean’s new single Conflictus recently.
“I wrote Conflictus when I was seeing someone and I couldn’t figure out if I was being messed around by them or if they were being genuine,” explains Elkae, on the inspiration behind Conflictus. “I was so torn and it felt like there was 2 of me. The innocent naive dreamer who wanted to believe she was good and honest, and the suspicious realist in me that called bullshit. There was 2 very different narratives going on in my head arguing with each other about what to do and how to see it. In the end the realist was right – and the song kind of leads to this big finish at the end when the dreamer in me converts over to being a realist in relationship expectations and love.”
Elkae aka Laura Keane is a BIMM graduate who has been operating under the moniker Elkae since 2018. Since then she has played Electric Picnic, featured on Spotify’s A Breath of Fresh Eire and been a finalist in the IMRO Christy Hennessy Songwriting competition as well as branching out towards the UK, US and French markets thanks to favourable reviews in each territory.
Elkae was one of the 50 acts selected to play Ireland Music Week 2019.
Elkae will play upstairs at Whelan’s on Saturday 1st February 2020 with tickets from €12.80 on sale Wednesday 30th October (9am)
