Dublin three-piece grunge outfit Forty Foot formed in the early days of the pandemic following the untimely loss of a mutual friend and previous collaborator. Late last year they released their debut single Drugs, an arresting mix of wall of sound guitars, rolling drums and a charismatic vocal from frontman Sam Coffey.

The band return with Zeros, a somewhat slower paced but no less compelling effort than their debut. Citing 90s grunge as their prime influence, there is certainly a Cobain tinge to the shredded vocal Coffey delivers on track, along with an impressive in-your-face mix reminiscent of Steve Albini’s work on ‘In Utero’. There’s certainly more contemporary touchstones on display also, particularly the hazy hardcore of Title Fight.
