Roger Sanchez @ The Wright Venue Friday 27th August

For those of you against what I am about to do, I truly understand yet feel that in this particular case, the subject matter is warranted. There is many a fan, and many a foe of the venue mentioned in this week’s Dublin Clubbing Guide, but the special guest they are boasting is so impressive that for one night, all negative associations go right out the window.

And so…

This Friday, The Wright Venue is promoting what is said to be the first of many mainstream DJs to play guest spots in the coming months. And to start off they have a major treat in store, one which I myself was forced to question but was soon convinced. I thought to myself, ‘realistically, who has more of an impact when it comes to Raving then a man who is famous for not only his Grammy award, but hosting an onslaught of regular parties in Pacha Ibiza and Amnesia and his multi-million worldwide record sales?’ The only man who fits the bill is none other than House hero Roger Sanchez!

Roger Sanchez gained much of his notoriety from his number one hit Another Chance (remember yer one carrying around the giant love heart on the train etc? great vid) and since then has been remixing mainstream artists and cooking up a storm in Ibiza like it’s nobody’s business. Today you can’t really get much bigger than The S. Man, and he looks set to tear it up in The Wright Venue this Friday in front of which will no doubt be a jam packed crowd.

Starting out playing to New York’s party scene with fellow DJs David Morales and Danny Tenaglia, Roger has become an Ibiza party icon, and has played there every summer for the last ten years. He won his Grammy in 2003 for Best Remixed Recording, for his remix of the Neptune’s produced Hella Good by No Doubt, and he is now set to release a new studio album before year’s end featuring top musical talent such as Sophie Ellis-Bextor.

He descends on the emerald Isle this Friday in the Wright Venue in Swords; with tickets costing a measly 20 clams, or 5 squid less if you are a member if you RSVP on the facebook link below. Please make sure you bring your membership card on the night.

Support on the night will be from Dean Sherry, Paul Webb and David DeValera, and tickets are available from Ticketmaster outlets and the Wright Venue box office on the night.

Am I the only one thinking of giving this venue ANOTHER CHANCE??? Anyone? No? Whatever….
