Dublin based Ukrainian artist Shy has shared heartfelt new single ‘On The Roof’. The former X Factor contestant has immersed herself in Dublin’s indie music community since moving to Ireland performing at renowned venues and collaborating with local artists. Her debut English language album “Awkward Tunes” showcased her emotional lyrical prowess and brought her to new audiences.
‘On The Roof’ sees Shy working once again with Dublin based producer and drummer August Ogren who produce her previous single ‘Have Good Kiss’.
“This song is about those quiet moments of reflection after saying goodbye to someone who has been a significant part of your life. Being on the roof symbolises a place where you can see everything clearly and begin to envision a new future” says Shy explaining the story behind her latest ballad.
Since the pandemic and the full scale war in Ukraine, not only have I had to rearrange my own life completely, but also watched so many of my friends living through their toughest times, making decisions that turned everything upside down and very often those decisions involved leaving people they once loved behind.
You may not believe me, but I feel some of my friends’ losses and breakups often hit me harder than my own hardships. So this song is for everyone who has been through the pain of parting with their loved ones and facing a new life without them, for those who have been back to that square one”.
