Like most organisations affected by Covid-19, Drogheda Classical Music had to cancel the final concert of its 2019/20 series, set for Thurs 12 March. Three months on, however, they are rescheduling and broadcasting it online this weekend – in collaboration with West Wicklow Festival – as part of a joint online mini-series, ‘Behind Closed Doors’.
On Friday 26th June at 7:30pm West Wicklow Festival presents tenor Gavan Ring and pianist Fiachra Garvey in an evening of popular opera arias and songs, including favourites by Puccini, Mozart, Gounod, Schubert and more, from the stunning music room at Russborough House, Co Wicklow. This concert will be free to view, and viewers will be invited to donate to West Wicklow Festival after the concert.
On Sunday 28th June at 7:30pm Drogheda Classical Music presents its rescheduled concert, in the beautiful setting of St Peter’s Church of Ireland, Drogheda. Featuring pianist Finghin Collins with distinguished wind players, Matthew Manning (oboe), Macdara Ó Seireadáin (clarinet), Sinéad Frost (bassoon) and Cormac Ó hAodáin (horn), performing the Wind Quintets of Mozart and Beethoven. As this is a rescheduled concert, it will be free to ticket-holders and €10 to all other viewers.
Broadcast in high definition audio and video to ensure viewers have as close to a live experience as possible, both concerts will remain online for 72 hours after they go live.
