Having showcased at Ireland Music Week 2024, Donegal alt-folk artist Ramper is ready to take the next step in his career with the release of his debut album ‘Loner’ (Friday, 7th March, 2025). Ramper aka Declan McClafferty was previously a member of In Their Thousands and has been a successful session and touring musician for a number of years working with the likes of Rosie Carney, Ryan McMullan, Paul Brady and Tony Tyrell and sharing stages with the likes of Tom Jones, Lisa Hannigan and Dermot Kennedy.
Ready to embarked on his own musical journey once again under the moniker Ramper exploring a sound which is simultaneously expansive and intimate. Last year saw the release of singles ‘If You Want A Good Dream’, ‘Pale as the Moon’, ‘Kept a Curl’, and ‘Promised’ and now Ramper has previewed his new album with ‘Back to the Start,’
Ramper states the song “revisits memories of things I learned from the old people I grew up around and how that’s become important to me now that they’re not here anymore.”
‘Loner’ is an apt name for the album as McClafferty played every instrument on the LP, which he recorded and produced himself over six months at his own home studio. The record was mixed by Daniel Ball (Chubby Cat, Ryan McMullan) and mastered by Richard Dowling (David Bowie, Sinead O’Connor).
