Damien Dempsey will be playing a fundraising concert in aid of the Uillean pipe makers training initiative. The aims of the society are to perpetuate the spirit of the music, in particular the playing of the pipes and the production and maintenance of the instrument itself.
Damo is set to play the gig in just over a week in The Grand Social on april 29th. Doors are at 8pm and tickets for the show are €25 and are on sale from www.pipers.ie and from the venue too.
There are currently about 40 professional pipe makers in the world.
