Yenkee is back with another slice of ephemeral, daydream pop wonder. The Cork songsmith, real name Graham Cooney, has been cosigned by superstar actress Florence Pugh and has built a reputation for creating lush Americana soundscapes such, so much so that people presume that he must be based in California.

And his new track ‘Los Angelus’ was inspired by such an interaction. “Los Angelus and California, in my opinion, are the perfect words for a songwriter. They fit perfectly in the best places in your song. I always find myself reaching for them. I always find myself writing about California, even though I’ve never been, and that’s what the song is about. A semi-well-known American artist contacted me on Instagram looking to collaborate. He sent me his number and said to hit him up if I was in LA in the coming weeks…I was working on the vegetable aisle in a supermarket in Cork”.

Yenkee’s debut album will follow ‘Los Angelus’ in the Autumn.
