CMAT has celebrated her 25th birthday by sharing new single I Don’t Really Care For You, a hypnotic blast of Laurel Canyon folk paired with the pop sensibilities of The Mamas and The Papas and the vocal prowess of the Bee Gees.

Following in the footsteps of I Wanna Be A Cowboy, Baby! and Another Day (KFC), I Don’t Really Care For You solidifies CMAT’s place as one of the most exciting acts to emerge from the Irish scene in the last decade.

It’s about realising you were ultimately the bigger dickhead in a relationship. I was thinking about how superiority always insists upon itself. Good people will always think they were doing the right thing in the moment, even if their actions are terrible,” explains CMAT of the song’s origins.

“I try really hard to be a good person, but I still end up being a big bully sometimes. If you ever find yourself saying something along the lines of, ‘I would love him IF…’ or ‘I would stay with you IF…’ then… you’re probably being a dickhead

I Don’t Really Care For You’s release is paired with news that CMAT will perform at The Troubador in London on November 9th.
