Congratulations to SOAK!!! on winning the Choice Music Irish Album Of The Year Prize and Gavin James – Bitter Pill on winning the Choice Music Song Of The Year.
Tonight we were treated to a front row balcony view of the Choice Music Prize balcony overseeing the biggest award for Irish album and song this year. First up came the performances from some of the nominee’s of Irish Song Of The Year including enjoyable sets of songs from The Academic, All Tvvins, Daithí, Fight Like Apes, Otherkin and Pleasure Beach.
We then were told the winner of the Irish Song Of The Year was Gavin James – Bitter Pill, his second win in this category after “Hello” won a few years ago. The second half of the show consisted of sets from Gavin James, Hamsandwich, Villagers, Le Galaxie, Colm Mac Con Iomaire and SOAK all playing from the album of the year nominees list. Ham Sandwich were particularly fantastic getting massive crowd interaction from the seated crowd.
Rounded off with the party atmosphere instilled by Le Galaxie, getting everyone on their feet. Including Mary-Kate from Fight Like Apes giving it socks down the front.
To close the show the surprise guest of the night, Adam Clayton of U2 came on to announce the winner, which was SOAK – Before We Forgot How To Dream.
