Details of the Irish Music industry social event of the year have been revealed. The Choice Music Prize will return to Vicar Street on March 3rd 2022. The Shortlist for best album will be revealed on January 5th 2022 and will be followed two weeks later by the Song Of The Year shortlist on January 26th.

The prize is once again presented in association with lead sponsor RTE 2FM. “Despite the challenges thrown at us this year, our artists and musicians have continued to do what they do best and created some incredible music and at 2FM we are really looking forward to celebrating it. The quality of this year’s Song of The Year and Album of The Year shortlists, along with the artists who feature in 2FM Rising highlight the sheer quality of music in Ireland right now. 2FM is ready to get right behind next year’s RTÉ Choice Music Prize shortlisted songs and artists, continuing to give them the support they truly deserve.” says Head of RTÉ 2FM Dan Healy.

As well as the main event, RTÉ Choice Music Prize ‘Conversations’ will return on Wednesday, 2nd March. ‘Conversations’ is an international music forum designed to encourage frank exchanges amongst panellists and with the audiences to challenge and elucidate the biggest prevailing issues confronting artists and industry professionals.

The Irish Album of the Year award is chosen from a shortlist of ten albums by a panel of eleven Irish music media professionals and industry experts.The winning act will receive €10,000, a prize fund which has been provided by The Irish Music Rights Organisation (IMRO) and The Irish Recorded Music Association (IRMA).
