The nominees for the RTE Choice Music Prize ‘Breakthrough Artist of 2024′ were announced on The Tracy Clifford Show on 2FM this afternoon. It’s no surprise to see Northern Ireland hip hop acts Kneecap and Jordan Adetunji get the nod alongside hotshot rockers Sprints and radio friendly folk act Kingfishr.
The one surprise inclusion is Cork’s Biig Piig who has been a mainstay in the Irish music scene for close to a decade now – perhaps this makes up for her being overlooked back in 2020 when she had the best run of singles by any Irish artist that year.
The winner will announced in Vicar Street on March 6th. Tickets to the live event on sale now.
