British artist Charlie Winston is still somewhat of an unknown quantity in the UK and Ireland despite the Londoner’s decade-long streak of chart success in mainland Europe – especially France and Belgium – where he is a chart-radio staple, thanks to several top 5 albums.

Musical clout runs in the family, Winston’s brother is the acclaimed singer-songwriter Tom Baxter – Winston played bass and toured with his sibling in his early days. However, while Baxter is well-known round these parts Winston, has carved out a much bigger following in Europe and with over 37 million streams on Spotify, his statistics dwarf those of his brother.

Winston will hope that his recently released fourth album ‘Square 1’ can help rectify that with tracks such as The Weekend and forthcoming single Spiral tailor-made for mainstream radio airplay in the UK and Ireland.

Charlie Winston plays Cyprus Avenue, Cork on Wednesday January 30 and  The Grand Social, Dublin on Thursday January 31sth. Tickets €13.54.
