Canalaphonic music and culture festival will return to the Portobello and Rathmines area this September.

Following a hugely successful arrival on the festival scene in 2015, the community based celebration of local music has just announced a return – taking place across a number of venues on 23 and 24 September, 2016.

The addition of the 5,000 capacity Leinster Cricket Club as our main outdoor venue for the weekend is a sign that a bigger things are planned for Canalaphonic round two.

The line-up will include a fine selection of independent Irish musical acts, including Rocstrong, The Eskies, Zaska, Mongrel State, BARQ, Mongoose, White_Mice, Mother Mooch, Fox E and the Good Hands and Travis Oaks. Stay tuned for the full announcement.

As well as the Leinster Cricket Club, new venues added to the festival trial this year include The National Concert Hall Quarter’s “Vaults”, Opium and Whelan’s of Wexford St.

Canalaphonic is the result of an ongoing collaboration between Dublin City Council’s South East Area Office and Abner Browns Barbershop, supported by Fáilte Ireland, Clancourt Group, Waterways Ireland, Dublin City Council Arts Office, IMRO, Heineken, McGarrell Reilly Group and Rohan Holdings..

The festival’s organisers have pledged to continue with their “commitment to Play for Pay, whilst providing free entry to all events for lovers of music, arts and culture.” With this is mind, they invite submission from anyone interested be send to: submissions@canalaphonic.com.
