Pied piper of fun Jenny Wren, the driving force behind Body & Soul’s fabled booking policy has launched a podcast delving into the experiences of some of Ireland’s most interesting characters. Hindsight will invite guests to examine the pivotal moments in their lives through the 20 /20 vision of Hindsight. No topic is off limits in conversations about all things real-life – whether specific, whimsical, practical – from the gnarly to the joyful. It’s about honest perspectives though candid exploration.

We are more than our jobs, our roles, our perceived public personas so these conversations allow guests to simply be human and offer stories or thoughts which may resonate with someone, somewhere. I’ve been truly humbled with the openness and trust guests have gifted me.” explains Wren of speaking of the concept behind Hindsight.

“I believe this process can offer the benefit of someone else’s 2020 vision. As there is no agenda it allows the guest to be fully in control, discuss what it is they feel comfortable sharing in this particular moment of their lives… The idea came as I had gone back to check if I still liked the idea of doing broadcasting, a path I had started many years ago. I took a 12 week course, to check if the ideas were still in there somewhere plus I was also at a reflective moment in my life with lots of considerations and thoughts on wildly polarising & varying areas of life ”.

The first 3 episodes of Hindsight have been released today with guests focussed on Pride month. In keeping with her talent of finding and promoting the most cutting-edge artists, the theme music for the podcast will feature one artist every three months as an opportunity to spotlight their talent. The first is ‘When I Go’ by Elaine Mai , who is also interviewed on the Podcast later in the series.

LGBTQ+ activist, historian and  all-round legend Tonie Walsh who talks about how he became HIV infected, a night which started out as consensual but awoke to an non-consensual situation.

Founder of the artist network and Podcast GIRLS TO THE FRONT and of Secret Sessions YouTube channel, Harriet JW talks about being hit by a car at 16 which left her in a coma for two weeks. She discusses the difficulty of having three miscarriages (between herself and her wife) and how she would suggest being hit by a car over the miscarriages. Harriet has worked with hundreds of influential artists and creators from acts like Ed Sheeran, Passenger and Bastille to Kacey Musgraves Mahalia and Freya Ridings.

Mairtín Mac an Bhaird (better known as Martin Beanz Warde) is a stand-up comedian, writer, theatre actor, Podcaster and social commentator from the Irish Traveller community.
