The first degree of its kind to be offered in Ireland, the 4 year performance based programme equips students with all the tools to succeed and enjoy a sustained career in the music industry.
BIMM Dublin cares about quality musical performance and has created an environment where students can develop as both performers and music industry professionals, within a thriving contemporary music scene. All BIMM Dublin tutors are music industry professionals, who are also dedicated teachers, and include singer/songwriters Cathy Davey and Cormac Curran (Villagers), Mick Pyro (Republic of Loose), Cait O’Riordan (The Pogues), Artist Development tutor Ronan Yourell (Delorentos), Music Business tutor Jim Lawless (manager of The Coronas), and Head of the Vocal Department Mark Greaney (JJ72).
Interest and demand for the course has grown in the past three years, and this has been reflected in the high level of first preference choices in the first round of the CAO applications in 2013. Of 712 applicants, 65% of these were first preference at the close of application on 1st February 2013. The college is also extremely proud of its student retention and achievement figures, which both currently stand at 96%, which is 11% higher than the national average.
Applications for the BA (Hons) in Commercial Modern Music must be made to the CAO before 5.15pm on Saturday, 1st February 2014 using the course code DT506. After this date, there is no facility for late or change of mind applications. All applicants will be contacted by email to arrange an audition, once all CAO applications have been submitted.
Students who apply for the course must take part in an audition where they can obtain a maximum of 600 additional points for use for entry onto the course. These additional points can be added to the points achieved at Leaving Cert, FETAC or equivalent and used to gain entry to the course through the CAO process.
