Barack Obama Plaza let us introduce you to your new nemesis The Jamie Oliver Petrol Station. Following a whirlwind couple of months which saw CMAT return to Jools Holland, set fire to the European festival circuit and support/duet with Sam Fender, and ride the crest of a viral wave upon the good ship Woke Macerana with the earworm of the year ‘Take A Sexy Picture of Me’; Ciara Mary-Alice Thompson has supplied us with another zany glimpse into her overactive imagination with The Jamie Oliver Petrol Station, the latest single from her forthcoming third album ‘Euro-Country’ which lands on August 29th via AWAL.

It’s a surprisingly rocky affair, the type of offering you’d expect from the Fontaines, rather than the self styled country revivalist. There’s also hints of Rachael Lavelle within the psychedelic tinged offering too – we’ve no doubts CMAT will unlock her full potential, after all anybody that can use the pangs of hunger swirling up from the deli queue as a jumping off point to weave an absurdist daydream about how you shouldn’t project your frustrations onto other people, celebrities or otherwise, is simply too weird not to transcend into something spectacular.

“The whole point of the song is actually my annoyance and intolerance and hatred of other people serves absolutely no purpose in my life and is a really bad instinct that I have. So it’s actually a love song for Jamie Oliver, if you think about it. It’s me being like ‘don’t be a bitch and stop judging people for annoyances” says CMAT of the track which lands ahead of her much anticipated Glastonbury festival Pyramid Stage appearance.
