London based Cork native Balderdasch has shared new single ‘Gentleman Kill’ ahead of the release of her debut EP ‘Control the Ending’ on September 18th. The disorientating track was co-produced with longtime collaborator Pete Wareham, who has been a guest musician for the likes of Nadine Shah, The Smile and Mica Levi.
“The track is about being broken up with” says Balderdasch. “However, more specifically it’s about making the land so inhabitable by your own withdrawal, that you sort of force the other person’s hand on the matter. It’s being the cowardly gentleman and letting the other person do the dirty work. Then afterwards you’re left thinking, wow, I feel like I could have killed this with a lot more kindness than you, but I just couldn’t seem to be the one to take control of the end.”
Balderdasch, who first came to our attention following the release of the avant-garde pop track ‘Not An Old Soul’ is set to appear as one of the 50 showcasing acts at Ireland Music Week this October, which coincides with dates in Glasgow, Manchester, Birmingham, Brighton, and London in support of ‘Control the Ending’.
