All-ages music festival BASED is set to return to The Button Factory in Dublin this weekend. The much needed one-day event offers young people a chance to see some of the best up-and-coming acts in Ireland in one of Dublin’s best venues.
There has been a longstanding need for all-ages gigs in Dublin and Based provides an inclusive and accessible outlet for the next generation of music fans with the aim of introducing young Irish music fans to the next wave of Irish musical talent and allowing them to grow in tandem together.
Following the success of Based’s inaugural outing the festival is set to return across two stages in The Button Factory on Sunday June 23rd with a diverse line-up of indie rock acts from around Ireland.
Based is the brainchild of independent Irish music champions Fluttertone. “I’ve seen so much talent in bands that are up-and-coming but can’t get opportunities to play because they’re not 18.” Inspired by a passion for nurturing young musical talent, BASED aims to provide a stage for these young artists, as well as address the lack of safe shows for young music fans,” explains Fluttertone director Colm of the spirit behind the festival.
This edition of Based will be headlined by Kildare’s Thanks Mom who have released two album since 2021 and most recently released their single ‘If You Want Me’ late last year.
Also appearing on the main stage of the second edition of Based is multi-instrumental bedroom artist Taiy? aka composer/songwriter Micheál Carney. Midlands rock trio Dopamine who are currently working on their debut album, high-energy riot grrrl act DC Dolls, guitar heavy quintet Bioluminescence and funk rock act The Marks.
Meanwhile on the second stage in Crow Bar, fresh from the release of his second album ‘Red Sky At Morning’ Garvan Lambert will be joined by North Dublin rockers What If and The Blackpits.
Tickets from €15.75 are available here. Check out the acts playing Based in the playlist below
